Outlaw Ocean Series Race 5 - Urquhart Bluff Torquay
Outlaw 5 is going to be the most competitive ocean paddling event so far in the Outlaw history. The race will be located on the Great Ocean Road in the little surf town of Torquay. To ashore the best downwind conditions two different race courses have be plotted. Paddlers will experience dramatic cliff lines, world famous surf breaks, such as Bells Beach, and maybe a dolphin or two. It going to be a tip top event and with a late start time of 2pm the reliable 20-30knot afternoon sea breezes are sure to be blowing. Local paddlers Ivor Morgan, Dave Provan, Tim Altman and Michael Leveratt are all confirmed starters. They will have to be focused and on the top of their game. As current world ocean ski champion Dawid Mocke is also a confirmed starter. Dawid is making the trip all the way over from South Africa to race. He will be the race favoriate, however Califorina Lifeguard team member and keen ocean paddler Mike Murphy of the USA will aslo be racing. Rumor has it a trailer of craft will also be heading down from NSW. Its going to be a hot field. Commitment from QLD and NSW OC1 paddlers will again test the local VIC OC1 paddlers, but with some of Victoria's OC1 paddlers resent performances at the nationals, we will have strong presence when it comes to the placing at the finish line. Outlaw would like to thank all the early entrance in the plastic ski category. It looks like this category will also be a hard one to win. Its great to see so many new paddles taking up the challenge of ocean paddling. It's going to be a fast race and outlaw wishes the local boys the best of luck. This will cost you $150 per person and will involve a 3 hour boat ride along the great ocean road from Torquay to Urquhart Bluff and return.
