Racing in the 2016 Adventurethon Anglesea Enduro or Ultra? Then you'd better brush up on your surf paddling skills! Paddling in and out through the break zone is a specialist skill that requires expert coaching and practice, practice, practice. Don't leave it until race day to find out the hard way - join one of our surf skills clinics to get a jump on the competition.
Who's it for?
This clinic is ideal for novice to intermediate paddlers who already know the basics of kayak paddling, but need to learn how to paddle through the surf, or brush up on their existing skills. It is expected you know how to remount your ski in deep water.
What will I learn?
Over two hours, you will be introduced to:
-
Equipment selection and set up, using the latest sit-on-top ocean racing skis
-
Water safety
-
Reading and understanding the surf and ocean conditions to maximise efficiency and avoid catastrophe!
-
How to paddle out through the surf with finesse
-
How to paddle back in through the surf with finesse
-
How to quickly and efficiently get back on your kayak if you fall out in deep water
-
How to paddle in side swell and chop.
What should I bring?
All kayaks, lifejackets and paddles are supplied, or you may bring your own.

A wetsuit is highly recommended
-
Long sleeve neoprene, polypropylene or lycra tops and pants
-
A windproof jacket or vest
-
