~ Frequently Asked Questions ~
Do we have to carry all our own water? Will there be places to fill up on the course?
Yes, you have to carry all your own water! The course is remote and it is not possible to have water stations along the course. You are required to have the capacity to carry at least 2L of water. A hydration bladder is a great option.
There are a few streams along the way where you could fill up, but we would recommend taking water purification tablets or an alternative.
Do we have to carry all our own food?
YES! See info on food here
Are there any marshalls / volunteers / first aid helpers on the course?
YES! There are checkpoints with course marshalls and basic first aid volunteers along the trail. But you must carry your own basic first aid supplies as outlined in the mandatory gear list.
Are there any markers to show the course on the way?
YES! The course will be well marked with fluorescent orange peak adventure trail markers.
Do we get a map?
No! The course will be well marked and attended by marshalls.
How long will it take?
We expect the fastest people to be finished in 3-4hours, the average to be 8-9 hours and some will take 12 hours. You must make the cut off points along the course or you will be 'short coursed' and unable to continue. The course will be cleared before dark.
What do I eat?
See our info on nutrition and snacks here
Can I volunteer?
Yes! We are looking for volunteers with a range of skills. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Why is it more expensive this year?
We will be supplying satellite tracking systems for each team this year. This means as well as us being able to track your whereabouts and safety, your friends at home can track your progress online too! The tracking will also allow for accurate timing. The trackers also have an SOS function that can be enabled in case of an emergency.
Can I book a specific time for the return bus?
This year we will have buses departing the finish line at regular time intervals depending on demand. When you finish you can put your name down for the very next bus, or perhaps your like to enjoy dinner and a drink and catch a later one, the choice is yours.
Can I do it solo?
Unfortunately not. For safety reasons and in the spirit of the challenge there are no solo competitors. This is a team challenge and part of that is surviving the challenge with your team mates. Please contact us if you are having problems finding a team mate and we can try and find you one!
If I am faster than my team mates can I just meet them at the finish line?
Noooooo! This is a team event. You are to stay within 50m of your team mates at all times. Teams will be required to check in and out of marshall points together. You will not be permitted to leave without your team. If you finish without your team mates your time will not be recorded, you will be awarded a DNF (did not finish!)
If the weather is bad and I booked a helicopter will I get a refund? How will I get back?
We have ordered sunshine for 2022, so this will not be an issue! However, if it is, your helicopter ticket will be refunded minus a bus fee of $40 and you will be put on the first available bus.
I can't come anymore, can I have a refund?
WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
Should you wish to withdraw from the event BEFORE 26th February 2022, we will refund your entry, minus a 10% administration fee.
Should you wish to withdraw from the event AFTER 26th February 2022, as per the conditions of entry, we will refund 50% of your entry. The reason for this is that a considerable amount of the entry fee has already been spent prior to the event on permits, timing, and booking fees.
If you have booked the bus and would like to cancel, we will refund the ticket minus 10%
WHAT ABOUT FORWARDING MY ENTRY TO A FUTURE EVENT?
If you have exceptional circumstances we may be able to move your ticket to AGT 2023. Please email us at email@example.com to request a change.
CAN I TRANSFER MY ENTRY TO ANOTHER PERSON?
YES. You need to email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange this.
